NASHVILLE, Tenn.—August 31, 2012—The 106th Tennessee State Fair kicks off on Friday, Sept. 7. The fair will be held Sept. 7-16 at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds. The theme for this year’s fair is “Pick Tennessee State Fair.”
“We are thrilled to host another great fair this year,” said John Rose, chairman of the Tennessee State Fair Association. “We have gone above and beyond to plan a fair that will include agriculture, livestock, and education while continuing to provide the traditional fair experiences that our fairgoers love.”
The fair will have several new events and exhibits in 2012. Some of the events and exhibits include:
Equine events in a new sand equestrian ring
Free concerts daily including a performance from “The Grascals” on the Grandstand on Thursday, Sept. 13
Partnership with Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee for the opening ceremony on Sept. 7
Green Collar Exhibit featuring several sustainable living seminars and exhibits
Champion of Champions in Poultry and Junior Dairy
In addition to the many new events and exhibits, there will be classic fair traditions including 10 days of bluegrass music on the Bluegrass Stage, livestock competitions, creative arts competitions, traditional fair food including fried Goo Goo Clusters, McDonald’s Kids Country, Farm Bureau Tiny Acres, Volunteer Village, daily karaoke contests, a Jack and Jenny Mule Show and great midway rides to name a few.
Advanced discounted tickets can be purchased online at www.tnstatefair.org or at participating Middle Tennessee Kroger stores through Sept. 7. At the gate Sept. 7-16, fairgoers can receive $3 off adult admission with a non-winning Tennessee Lottery ticket.
