The Tennessee State Fair is bringing a bigger & better Taste of Tennessee Festival back to opening weekend of the 2014 Fair. Craft Beer, Artisan Spirits, Local Music, Native Food and Tennessee-made goods will all be showcased Friday & Saturday, September 5th & 6th on the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. World Food Championship Super Regional

We are thrilled to host a Super Regional qualifier at the Tennessee State Fair during the Taste of Tennessee Festival! Competition categories are Bacon, Dessert and Seafood and will span over Friday & Saturday, September 5th & 6th. Fair goers are welcome to come down and watch the excitement as it’s filmed for a new FYI network series.

Fairest Of the Fair Pageant

The 2014 Tennessee State Fair Pageants will take over the Sports Arena on the closing weekend of the Fair. This Miss Sparkle pageant, featuring young women with special needs, will take place on Friday, September 12th at 5:30pm. Pageants for girls ages 0-20 years old will take place on Saturday, September 13th beginning at 10:00am.

Curly The Kid and Colonel Phil Good will ride back into Volunteer Village, with their 2014 version of the Western Comedy Show. These two crazy cowboys can’t wait to tell fairgoers about their “Brand New, New and Improved, Bigger And Better, Miracle Tonic” that’s sure to cure all that ails ya. Shades of The Three Stooges and Mel Brooks, this wacky duo is always a crowd pleaser for audiences of all ages.

The annual Tennessee State Fair Kids Ice Cream Eating Contest is not only popular among contestants, but is one of the most biggest crowd pleasers year in and year out. Kids interested in participating can sign up at 1pm in front of the Moosic Stage on both Saturdays and Sundays.

Fifty Forward Free Fair Day

Fifty Forward Free Fair Day takes place Tuesday, September 9th from 8:30am to 2pm. Persons 50 and over get in for FREE, with the first 300 attendees receiving complimentary lunch! The event focuses on looking back, seeing now, and looking ahead at the State of Tennessee, through entertainment, education, and the arts.

Mr. Bond, Science Guy presents “Journey to the Center of the Earth.” Learn about the Earth as a Magnet, make a volcano erupt, crush rocks and journey to the Earth’s core!

Volunteer Village

Volunteer Village

Year in and year out, one of the most popular attractions for both children and adults, is the Volunteer Village. This area features free pony rides for the kids, panning for gems, as well as Lucky’s Barnyard Animals. Travel back in time to our state’s roots and see demonstrations of pottery, weaving, sewing, and more. Here, fair-goers can also enjoy the Western Comedy Show, live Bluegrass Music on the Bluegrass Stage, as well as the famous traveling storyteller, Riverboat John.

McDonalds Kids’ Country

McDonalds Kids’ Country

McDonalds Kids’ Country is another area at the fair, entirely FREE to all children, all ten days of the fair. Located within Kid’s country is Tiny Acres, where kids learn what it’s like to be a farmer by harvesting and bringing their crops to market where they can receive a free treat. Also in the kids play area, are free inflatable bounce rides, a sand pit, hula hoops, sidewalk chalk and swing set.

Tennessee Craft Demonstrators

Take a moment to enjoy Tennessee Craft Artists display their talents in our Creative Arts Building. The Tennessee Association of Woodturners, The Handweavers Guild of Nashville, and The Clay Lady’s Studios will all be onsite during the 10-day fair to perform their craft. Demonstrations will be available on Saturdays and Sundays of the fair as well as the elementary and 4H/FFA field trip days.
