It might be the tastiest contest at the fair! The Tennessee State Fair Ice Cream Contest is a true battle of the sweet tooth. Each winner will receive an official TSF ice cream eating trophy.

Hula Hoop Contest

Saturdays (9/12 & 9/13) and Sundays (9/19 & 9/20)

It’s a battle of finesse, grace, coordination and fun – it’s the Hula Hoop contest! The Hula Hoop contest at the Tennessee State Fair is the perfect way to show off your Hula skills.

Winners will receive an official TSF Hula Hoop trophy.  Sign up will begin at 5 p.m. and will be limited to the first 24 entries. The contests will begin at 6 p.m. each day at Moosic Stage and contestant will compete in groups of four.

5th Annual Tennessee State Fair Cornhole Championships

Saturday, September 19

Ready, aim, throw! The Tennessee State Fair Cornhole Championships are back for a third year. Anyone older than 10 can enter. Registration opens at 11 a.m. and the first 64 to sign up will be able to compete. This event will take place in Volunteer Village. The contest begins at noon.

Prizes: Monetary Awards for 1st ($300), 2nd ($150), and 3rd place ($50).

11th Annual Karaoke Showdown

You might not be a big country star, but that doesn’t mean you can’t sing like you are. The Karaoke Showdown is back for an 11th year. Preliminary rounds will be held each night of the fair and the top two from every night will be invited back for the final round on Sunday Sept. 20th.

Friday, September 11th through Saturday, September 19th
Registration begins at 6:15 p.m.
Contest starts at 6:45 p.m.

Final Round is scheduled for Sunday, September 20th
Check in: 6:15 p.m.
Contest begins at 7:00 p.m. and is slated to end at 9:00 p.m.

Prizes: Monetary Awards for 1st ($500), 2nd ($250), and 3rd place ($150).

Tennessee State Fair Lego® Team Build-off

Sponsored by Bricks 4 Kidz – Middle Tennessee

Saturday, September 12th

Purpose of the competition: Each team will construct on site an original model based on a fair theme using Lego® building block and Lego® accessories.

Check in: 4:30pm – 5:00pm (Number of entries accepted will be based on available space.)
Building: 5:00pm – 6:00pm
Judging will begin at 6:00pm

Rules
1. Lego® pieces will be provided to individuals/teams by the Brick 4 Kidz-Middle TN.
2. Each individual/team will have one hour to build.
3. After the contest the individual/team will be responsible for breaking down their model excluding winners as appointed by judges.
4. Models will be constructed on site with Lego® piece provided.
5. All models will be considered the property of the Tennessee State Fair after completion, and will be displayed until the end of the fair if space is available.

Prizes: Awarded to the top 3 teams.

Judging
1. All models will be judged based on theme originality, detail and design.
2. Winners will be announced directly following judging.
3. Judges decisions are final.

Tennessee State Fair Lego® Brick Derby

Sponsored by Bricks 4 Kidz – Middle Tennessee

Saturday, September 19th

Purpose of the competition: Each team will construct and race on site an original build Lego® brick car.

Check in: 4:30pm – 5:00pm (Number of entries accepted will be based on available space.)
Building will begin at 5:00pm
Race begins at 5:30pm

Rules:
1. Lego® pieces will be provided to individuals/teams by the Brick 4 Kidz-Middle TN.
2. Each individual/team will have 30 minutes to build a car.
3. After the contest the individual/team will be responsible for breaking down their cars excluding winners.
4. Cars must be constructed on site with Lego® pieces provided.
5. All cars will be considered the property of the Tennessee State Fair after completion, and will be displayed until the end of the fair if space is available.
6. Wheel sets will be provided for Lego® Brick Derby cars. Cars built will be limited to 3″ in width and cannot weigh more than 2.4 ounces excluding wheel sets. Scales will be available for weighing.

*All wheels for Derby cars will be provided by Bricks 4 Kidz and are the only wheels that will be allowed on cars. Cars shall not exceed 4 ounces total weight. Scales will be provided for weighing.

Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the first place team in each age category.

Age Categories:

8 years and under

9-12 years old

13-18 years old

18+ years old
